Reflection
Choosing What Honors God
Every day, we make choices. Some are important decisions that affect our future, while others seem small and ordinary.
But even our everyday decisions provide opportunities to honor God.
Sometimes doing what is right is not the easiest choice.
It may be easier to remain silent when we should speak the truth, overlook someone who needs help, respond harshly when we are frustrated, or compromise our values to gain someone’s approval.
But goodness, one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit, calls us to something different.
Goodness is choosing what honors God, even when another choice would be easier.
It is more than appearing to be a good person. It is allowing the Holy Spirit to transform our hearts so that our actions increasingly reflect the character of Jesus Christ.
Think about the ordinary situations we encounter.
At work, goodness may mean doing our responsibilities faithfully even when no one is checking.
At home, it may mean showing patience when we are tired.
In our relationships, it may mean being honest, keeping our commitments, or helping someone without expecting anything in return.
And sometimes goodness means refusing to participate in something we know dishonors God, even when everyone around us seems comfortable doing it.
Psalm 34:14 reminds us to turn away from evil and do good. That requires intentional choices.
We cannot always control how others behave, but we can seek God’s guidance about how we respond.
There will also be times when doing good becomes tiring.
Perhaps you have continued helping others without receiving appreciation. Maybe you have chosen honesty and watched someone else benefit from dishonesty. Perhaps you have been faithful in a responsibility that nobody seems to notice.
Galatians 6:9 encourages us not to grow tired of doing good.
God sees what others may overlook.
However, we do not practice goodness simply to receive recognition or a reward. We choose goodness because we love God and desire to honor Him.
And we do not have to develop this character through our own strength alone.
As we spend time in God’s Word, seek His direction, and respond to the Holy Spirit, He helps us recognize the difference between what is convenient and what is right.
We will not always make perfect decisions. When we fall short, we can acknowledge it, seek God’s forgiveness, receive His correction, and continue growing.
The question is not always, “What would be easiest for me?” Sometimes the better question is, “What choice would honor God?”
Goodness grows as we continue walking with Him, one decision at a time.
🤔😊 Reflection Question

📝 Short Writing Prompt
Think of one situation you are currently facing where doing the right thing may require extra effort, patience, honesty, or sacrifice.
Write down one practical choice you can make that would honor God in that situation.
🙏🏼😊 Today’s Prayer
Precious LORD,
Thank You for Your goodness and for the Holy Spirit who helps us grow in Christlike character.
May You guide our decisions and strengthen us to choose what is right, even when another choice seems easier.
When we become discouraged or weary from doing good, may You renew our strength and remind us that our faithfulness matters to You.
May our words, attitudes, and actions reflect Your goodness in our homes, workplaces, relationships, and everyday responsibilities.
Thank You, Jesus Christ, for showing us how to live, and thank You, Holy Spirit, for continuing to transform our hearts.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
💞 Love You All Much!
